Grayscale Tweak

Last updated 1 year ago

The Grayscale Tweak tool gives you the ability to adjust the values of any grayscale that you define in the “Custom Grayscale” input. This it’s useful for any non-procedural grayscale since it offers lots of adjustments for roughness maps or masks.

❇️ New in version 2.0: Ability to work with "Multimask" textures. Now you can use RGBA textures as an input and select which channel you want to use as the grayscale input.

The “Custom Grayscale” input needs to be defined in order to be able to adjust the grayscale

⭐ You can use an Anchor Point as input for the “Custom Grayscale”

Overview

Integration

You can simply drag and drop the SPAT_Grayscale_Tweak from the “Assets” panel to the mask of any layer

You can also use the SPAT_Grayscale_Tweak in any of the grayscale channels of a fill layer such as the Roughness channel, the Metallic or the Height

You can also use the SPAT_Grayscale_Tweak as the brush alpha or the brush stencil

Parameters

Regular grayscale setup:

By default the tool uses the "Custom grayscale" mode:

You must define the texture or anchor point that you want to use as "Custom grayscale" in the "Image inputs" section at the bottom of the properties panel:

Multimask setup:

If you change the mode to "Multimask (RGBA)" you'll be able to use any of the RGBA channels of the texture as the custom input:

You must define the texture or anchor point that you want to use as "Custom Multimask (RGBA)" in the "Image inputs" section at the bottom of the properties panel:

Here you can see an example of a multimask:

Position: Swift the grayscale values

Contrast: Contrast the grayscale

Clamp: - Method: Define witch method of clamp you want to use. You can choose between: Levels or Clamp - Black position: Define the min value for the clamp - White position: Define the max value for the clamp

Auto Levels: Apply "Auto levels" to the grayscale

Invert: Invert the grayscale

Enable effects: Toggle the application of various effects such as Blur, Sharpen, Bevel, and Warp

Blur: Apply a blurring effect to the grayscale

Sharpen: Enhance the clarity of the grayscale

Bevel - Distance: Adjust the distance of the Bevel effect - Corner type: Choose between Round or Angular for the Bevel's corner type - Smoothing: Control the smoothness of the Bevel

Warp* - Input blur: Blur the "Warp mask" for the Warp effect - Input tiling: Set the size (tiling) of the "Warp mask" - Intensity: Determine the strength of the warp effect - Warp angle: Specify the angle of the warp effect

*In order to use the warp effect you'll need to define a custom texture to drive the warping. You can define the "Warp mask" texture in the "Image inputs" section at the bottom of the properties panel:
